Gender differences in the salaries of physician researchers

This study seeks to determine whether salaries differ by gender in a relatively homogeneous cohort of physician researchers and, if so, whether these differences are explained by differences in specialization, productivity, or other factors. Results show that male gender was associated with higher salary, even after adjustment for differences in specialty, institutional characteristics, academic productivity, academic rank, work hours, and other factors.
